One noteworthy thing about the Twilight cast is that there will always be some kind of casting rumor associated with the big three – Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner – so when speculation arose as to whether Taylor Lautner would become a part of X-Men: First Class, it could’ve easily been chalked up to sensationalism and rumor mill output.

However, MTV has just revealed that the film’s producer, Bryan Singer, really did want Taylor Lautner to star in the film and that a serious conversation was had between himself and Lautner about the prospect.
“I wanted Taylor [Lautner] to do it, I really did,” they quote him to tell Blastr. “He’s doing a movie in Pittsburgh called Abduction, and then he’s got the next Twilight movie. We talked about it a lot—he is a friend—and I really wanted to make it work. It just doesn’t look like it’s possible to do it.”
Well, obviously things didn’t work out with that, but it would have been a very interesting move on Lautner’s part to take up another major franchise like the X-Men films. His The Twilight Saga: New Moon and The Twilight Saga: Eclipse co-star Daniel Cudmore has experience in that franchise as well.

If you’re familiar with the “Twilight” book series, you know that the “Breaking Dawn” films are gearing up for some gratuitous action. Bella and Edward will be engaging in their first sex scene, followed by a particularly disturbing birth. Finally, all this chaste kissing is building up to something.
This leaves screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg in a bit of a pickle. How will she capture the intimacy and gore of these scenes in a way that doesn’t ratchet the film rating to R? In the interview below, Rosenberg seems dedicated to sparing no gritty details, while producer Wyck Godfrey told Fearnet that the film would still be PG-13.

“I’m unwavering in my belief that these will be PG-13 movies,” he says in the interview. “And really, I say that not because I know what we’re shooting but because I feel that they should be. I feel like the audience of the books and the movies, many of them are under 18; my ten-year-old son goes to these movies, I can’t make an R-rated conclusion to the franchise.”
