Christina Ricci talks about Rob “He’s really an awesome guy. He’s so professional”
Posted by Maria • No Comments »

As she heads into the fall, Ricci is already generating buzz for her role in another period piece, Bel Ami (at press time, it’s yet to be picked up for distribution) in which she, Uma Thurman and Kristin Scott Thomas get to take turns being entranced by Robert Pattinson. “He’s great; he’s really an awesome guy. I had a lot of fun working with him,” says Ricci. She goes to say that, despite captivating legions of teenage girls everywhere (along with most of their mothers), Pattinson maintains a respectable on-set ethic. “He’s so professional,” she continues. “He comes to set with no expectations or attitude. None of those things you worry someone of his level of fame is going to have.”

What was it like to be seduced by Robert Pattinson for Bel Ami?
RICCI: Oh, he’s absolutely lovely! He’s great in the movie. It’s a very different role for him. It’s classic Guy de Maupassant. It’s very interesting, grittier material. It’s really good.

Bel Ami to Premiere at The Berlin Film Festival?
Posted by Maria • No Comments »

Robert Pattinson seems keen to establish himself as An Actor. While the drippy, manipulative “Remember Me” was a miss, Pattinson proved himself a non-vampire draw with “Water For Elephants” earlier this year which powered itself to a strong $115 million worldwide. And with David Cronenberg‘s “Cosmopolis” and the period pic “Bel Ami” on the way, he seems eager to shake off the adolescent stink of “Twilight.” While we have to wait and see how successful that attempt is, as these new pics from the latter film show, he’s going to be turning up the heat in the process.

Based on the book by Guy de Maupassant and featuring Uma Thurman, Kristin Scott Thomas and Christina Ricci, “Bel Ami” will find Pattinson playing George Duroy, a sexy social climber in turn-of-the-century 1890s Paris, who seduces his way to wealth and fame from a poor beginning. Thurman will play the wife of one of Duroy’s friends who eventually marries Pattinson’s seductive schemer. Kristin Scott Thomas will appear as a woman who overestimates Duroy’s attachment to her. These pics show Pattinson easily proving his manhood with the female leads, but whether the film is a winner or not, we won’t know for a while yet.

From what we hear, the producers are aiming for a Berlin Film Festival premiere in 2012 and it might be a while later before it hits theaters as the film is still without a distributor. So stay strong RPatz lovers and let these pics tide you over for now.

Holliday Grainger talks Robert Pattinson in Interview with London Evening Standard

London audiences will see her next in Cary Fukunaga’s dark, surreal Jane Eyre, released in September, and she’s just filmed Bel Ami in London and Budapest opposite Twilight star, Robert Pattinson, which comes out this month.

She is in awe of the way Pattinson has handled his meteoric rise to fame. When they were filming in Budapest, the Hungarian radio stations constantly broadcast their location, so Pattinson had to keep changing hotels.

Arguably, Grainger’s biggest break will be playing Estella in David Nicholls’s new screen adaptation of Dickens’s Great Expectations. You sense she will be terrific as the ice maiden who breaks Pip’s heart. According to the film’s producer Elizabeth Karlsen: “She is just an incredibly fine actor and has the beauty that is needed for Estella as well as an extraordinary technical ability.”

As for Hollywood, Grainger seems surprisingly sanguine about the pressures and claims she’s never been asked to lose weight for a role. People need to see more natural body shapes, she insists, especially with a character such as Lucrezia in a time when women were depicted with ample bosoms and rounded stomachs in many Renaissance paintings.

Grainger has been doing an Open University degree in English alongside filming but, as she says, she’s been living in the 19th century for the past year with Jane Eyre and Bel Ami. “It kind of feels like I’ve been having a parallel education.”
