Phoenix area station MyFoxNews/Fox10 has coverage about Kiowa Gordon’s arrest for outstanding warrants.

At the time of our reporting this morning, Gordon was still in custody, but he’s been released based on his Twitter comments, including one that he posted and then promptly removed saying, “Freedom! Wow!”

In addition, our affiliate Kiowa Gordon Online has an official statement from Kiowa’s agent, which clarifies that, despite earlier reports, Kiowa was not arrested for suspicion of DUI:

The Mesa Police Department arrested Kiowa Gordon for an outstanding misdemeanor warrant issued by the Mesa Municipal Court. On 08-08-11 at approximately 6:50 AM, the Mesa Police Department dispatched a police officer to meet with the Tempe Police Department for a misdemeanor warrant hand-off. This is standard protocol for Phoenix area law enforcement agencies when a subject is arrested for a warrant from another local municipality. Kiowa Gordon was a passenger in a vehicle registered to him when he was stopped by the Tempe Police Department. During a registration check on that vehicle, it showed the registered owner (Kiowa Gordon) had two outstanding misdemeanor warrants for his arrest. The first warrant was issued by the Mesa Municipal Court ($1000 bond) and the second had been issued by the Scottsdale Municipal Court ($500 bond). Kiowa Gordon was arrested by Tempe PD for the outstanding warrants. There were no new charges as a result of Tempe Police Department’s contact with Gordon.

The Mesa Police Department took custody of Kiowa Gordon from the Tempe Police Department at 2630 W. 8th Street and he was transported to the Mesa City holding facility for processing on the outstanding Mesa warrant. The warrant was for a failure to appear charge out of the Mesa Municipal Court, with a bond amount of $1000. Kiowa Gordon was not investigated or charged with any new DUI related charges.

Twilight actor Kiowa Gordon has been arrested in Arizona on suspicion of DUI and for outstanding warrants.

Officers in Mesa, AZ took the 21-year-old actor into custody earlier this week on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol and he is reportedly being held in jail on a $1,000 bond.

The Native American actor grew up in Arizona and is a member of the Hualapai tribe.

Gordon played Wolf Pack member Embry Call in the highly successful Twilight vampire movie series.

American Indian actor Kiowa Gordon will transform afternoon into “Twilight” Saturday at the 22nd annual Oklahoma Indian Nation Pow-Wow.

Gordon, who plays Embry Call in the “The Twilight Saga” films, will be a special guest Saturday at the event, which continues through Sunday on the powwow grounds at the Cheyenne-Arapaho headquarters.
“It’s getting in touch with my heritage, my roots,” he said of appearing at American Indian events. “It’s important to me. It’s my culture.”

During his visit Saturday, Gordon, who is of Hualapai descent, will mingle with fans and be honored at a noon reception, take part in activities and participate in the 7 p.m. grand entry of dancers.
“It’s a real honor that he’s going to be able to make an appearance here to inspire our youth,” said Dara Franklin, chairwoman of the powwow committee. “He’s causing a lot of excitement with all the girls.”

Kiowa Gordon who portrays Jacob Black’s best friend “Embry Call” in the Twilight Saga films and Tinsel Korey, who portrays “Emily”, the maternal figure to the wolfpack and Bella’s pal, will be the featured guests for this years annual Quileute Days celebrations.
This will be Gordon’s first visit to La Push, but Korey spent a week with the tribe before filming began on Eclipse in 2009. She gave acting classes at the tribal school and joined a storytelling with Chris Morganroth III on First Beach. In a statement, Korey shared, “I’m really excited to go back to Quileute and see the kids again!”
The festival which celebrates Quileute culture, will kick off Friday with the Quileute Royalty pageant and stick games. The weekend events will feature a parade Saturday at noon, a traditional Salmon Bake, the time-honored stick-games,adult and youth softball tournaments, canoe racing, poker, bingo, and a wolf pack look-a-like contest. A Native nation dance idol contest will be judged by Tinsel, Kiowa and grammy award winning native artist Star Nayea on Saturday evening. There is a family street dance Friday and Saturday nights. E-tribe, a Christian rap group is performing on Saturday. Additionally, there will be a grand fireworks display, and “Twilight” themed events happening throughout the weekend. A raffle for a “Twilight themed basket will be available for $1.00. The annual Quileute Days festival is a wonderful opportunity for “Twilight” fans and Native culture enthusiasts alike to get an exclusive glimpse into traditional Quileute tribal traditions and customs.
Tinsel and Kiowa will be signing autographs on Saturday at the Quileute Tribal office from 2:30-4pm on Saturday. The cost of the autograph is $20.00 for each actor and you have the choice of the following. You can select from their official Twilight Saga:Eclipse head shot, you may take a photo with your personal camera or you may purchase a Quileute days t-shirt to have autographed. Eclipse DVD’s will be available for purchase for $75.00 autographed by both Tinsel and Kiowa.
