The actor who plays vampire Edward Cullen posed for pictures with some Crickets staff and adoring fans, while others crowded the streets hoping to just catch a glimpse.

Actor Robert Pattinson made a pit stop at Cricket’s Bar and Grill in Lubbock, just off the Texas Tech Campus Monday night. While the waitstaff expected a slow night due to the Labor Day holiday, they quickly learned it would turn into a frenzy.

Brittni Vivion, a waitress at Crickets said Pattinson went unnoticed for almost four hours before the realization set in.

“He came in around 5 o’clock at our happy hour shift. Nobody really noticed that it was Robert Pattinson until about 9 o’clock and finally a couple of bartenders and waitstaff asked him and then he kind of denied it at first and then eventually he fessed up and said that it was him. And so the word got out and about 20 minutes later we had a rush of girls come in. They were just flaunting themselves over him. We finally had to shut the bar down and not let anybody else in cause it was just crazy, said Vivion.”

Pattinson left the bar at closing time through a back exit. Bystander Marissa Mason described the scence as a chaotic.

There is no official word on why Pattinson was in Lubbock. But theories on various gossip sites indicate he may have made the stop on his way to New Orleans where his Twilight co-star and real life love interest Kristen Stewart is shooting a movie.

“There was just a large crowd of girls just screaming and standing around hovering around the windows and doors and their were cameras out, everyone had their cameras out trying to take pictures of everything inside. There were several police out and just directing traffic, making sure people didn’t stop, a lot of people were trying to stop and see what was going on.”

Rob Pattinson was spotted in Lubbock, Texas at Cricket’s Sports Bar on Broadway on Monday, Sept. 6, 2010. No one knows why he was here but he was with like 2 other guys. People were posting the news all over Facebook and the bouncers quit letting people in because over 200 girls showed up..

..and were waiting outside the front door. He sang karoke and waved at the girls in the window occasionally. I went to the back door because I figured that would most likely be his way of getting out. At about 1:30 AM a white truck driven by a..

..police officer followed by two other cop cars pulled up to the back door and Robert and his two friends walked out and got in the car. The police blocked off the streets so it was impossible to follow him.

While the “Breaking Dawn” director’s chair for both parts 1 and 2 is officially occupied by Bill Condon, “Twilight” fans know that there were several other high-profile names attached to the project before Condon signed on.

Among them was “Lost in Translation” and “Marie Antoinette” director Sofia Coppola. When we caught up with the writer/director to discuss her upcoming Chateau Marmont-set film, “Somewhere,” we asked her if there was any truth to the “Dawn” director rumors.

“Yeah, yeah, I talked to them about that,” Coppola revealed to MTV News. “I was interested in doing something but I didn’t end up doing it. But I love, I’m impressed by Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson pulling it off in that whole story,” she said. “And my friend’s kids love the story so much that I thought it would be fun to make something that they love so much.”

Asked what she liked best about the blockbuster vampire franchise, Coppola admitted she goes weak in the knees for romance.

“I just love that it’s so romantic,” she told us. “I’m always a sucker for a love story and also to do something for teenagers, because I feel like, why not have beautiful cinematography and all these things in a kid movie? Usually it looks like it’s not crafted very sophisticated, and I feel like it’d be nice to bring that kind of style into a younger

It’s lunchtime and Jennifer Lawrence is curled up on a sofa in the Point Hotel, Edinburgh. In town to promote her new film, Winter’s Bone, which has just received its British premiere at the film festival, she’s a little sleepy after a morning of interviews. Until, that is, she finds out I write for The Herald. “Is that in Harry Potter?” she asks. “If it’s not, it should be.” Like most her age – she turned 20 last month – she’s read all the JK Rowling books. Twice. “I’m a sucker for all those things. If I know something about the UK, it’s because of Harry Potter,” she says. “And then I got hit by the Twilight train. I think it’s a female thing. There’s some sort of chemical in there.”

In truth it’s a Robert Pattinson thing, the actor who played Cedric Diggory in the fourth Potter film before fronting Twilight. “I was immune to him until I saw Remember Me,” she says. “Now I’m daydreaming about him.” Aside from R-Patz, Lawrence loves YouTube and reality television shows such as Real Housewives Of New Jersey. “I was watching Wife Swap and Supernanny this morning,” she says, excitedly. “I’ve been watching Super-nanny since I was 14, which is stupid because it’s for parents, but it makes me want to have kids to prove how good a mother I am.”

Feet firmly on the ground, she’s also in denial when it comes to the question of impending stardom. “I don’t really lie in bed thinking, ‘One day I’ll become a superstar,’” she says. “Not that there’s anything wrong with that. But I don’t think that’s my career path. Mine will be more of a slower build. I think it would be surreal if it was like Robert Pattinson – all of a sudden you wake up and people are screaming. But I’ve been working for a while, so when you start to become successful, it’s not like all of a sudden going, ‘What’s going on? Why does this person recognise me?’ It is a weird industry anyway – so I fit in perfectly.”

“Robert Pattinson Is Going To Be On Entourage!” exclaims a giddy Perez Hilton.

After providing a “SPOILER ALERT,” the blogger announces, “There is a BIG surprise in store for Twilight fans – Robert Pattinson is slated to guest star!”

According to Hilton and other outlets, “Robert Pattinson guest stars as Ari’s most difficult client ever” on the episode airing this Sunday, September 12.

“Can RPatz handle ‘comedy’?” Hilton wonders.

Well, we know Pattinson can do comedy, ever since we saw him “bothered” in a tree with Jimmy Fallon last spring.

But here’s Gossip Cop’s spoiler: Perez Hilton does comedy, too, albeit unintentional.

Robert Pattinson is NOT going to do a cameo on “Entourage.”

A source close to the star tells Gossip Cop exclusively that it’s “not true.”

Note: Like it says, it’s a review from an early screening. Maria from Robert Patttinson Australia mentioned: “this is typically similar to the reviews we read about Remember Me and we all know what we thought of those once we had seen Rob’s performance.” This is only the first review we’ve seen so far, and there will be more. Some which are good, and so on.

Review from Craig Roob at Director’s Note:

So I have an exclusive…OK well unless you were there too?!

I went to see Bel Ami at a test screening the other night in the darkened streets of Soho…OK, a swanky (yes I use that word, problem!?) hotel’s screening room.

The film based on French author Guy de Maupassant’s novel tells the story of Georges Duroy’s (Robert Pattinson…yes the vamp teen!) rise to power in the upper middle classes of late19th century Paris. Having spent his military service in Algeria George returns home near destitute. With the little money he earns, he frivolously succumbs to the more salubrious side of the capital’s nightspots and in particular to businesswomen of the night. Happily for him a chance encounter with an old army comrade – Charles Forestier (Philip Glenister, (yes, him off Life on Mars & Ashes to Ashes) sees his luck begin to change. His new life as a journalist on the newspaper Vie Francaise helped by Charles, who is the chief editor of the paper and his wife Madeline (Uma Thurman), the real power and talent behind the man. George meets and takes a married woman Clotilde de Marelle (Christina Ricci) for a lover and slowly but surely embroils himself into the lives of the rich and powerful. From here on George becomes increasingly amoral as he seduces and manipulates influential women to expand his power and wealth.

Ok so what did I think?

Well the 20something Pattison does fit the bill of the man George Duroy who women succumb too but in the end the character, much like the acting, is rather shallow, which of course author Guy de Maupassant knows, but the directors Declan Donnellan & Nick Ormerod fail to. The love interests are all superbly acted, as you would expect from such a trio, which also includes Kristin Scott Thomas. Colm Meaney is aptly aloof, superior and disdainful as Rousset and Philip Glenister puts in a memorable performance as Charles Forestier.

The subplot of the film, which is only touched upon in a few scenes, nods towards France’s impeding invasion of Morocco, which supposedly adds depth to the story and its characters. One problem I felt was that the balance of Bel Ami is wrong, in so much as the chance encounter with Charles happens so fast that you’re not given the opportunity to empathise with George.

The film runs like a class based Desperate Housewives yet is engrossing enough to follow but not to linger in your mind, unless you’ve been glamoured by Mr. P…yes yes he wont easily move away from the vamp tag yet. I do tip my hat to him for making an interesting choice albeit in a role I wished the producers had cast with a better actor, which would have made for a better review.

Maybe they were glamoured too – ‘leave it now mister!’

Finally – please remember this is a very early test screening and there will be changes made – I assume.

FYI: The name Bel Ami, which the daughter of his lover Clotilde bestows upon George, translates as ‘dear friend’ but is more akin to ‘lover’ especially in literature, so I’m informed.

“Anonymous,” the decorated cult classic from Jason Tanamor, also Editor of Zoiks! Online, is looking to be made into a movie. The novel is dedicated to Chuck Palahniuk, who was the inspiration behind the novel. “Palahniuk’s stories aren’t like ones you see every day. However, they are real stories that happen to real people. With ‘Anonymous,’ I wanted to touch on stories that happen to real people that were not only interesting, but important. This book is similar to Palahniuk in the respect that the style and themes are similar. However, it stands on its own as an entertaining and intense story,” said Tanamor.

Tanamor added that the novel began as a short story written for “Playboy” magazine. “The editors didn’t like it,” Tanamor said, “but gave me enough criticism to keep at it. So, I wrote another story. Again, nothing came out of it. I had a couple stories with a common thread that ultimately became ‘Anonymous.’”

As for trying to get it from print to big screen, Tanamor said that a certain “Twilight” actor would be perfect for the lead role as narrator. “(Robert) Pattinson is currently being portrayed, unfairly, as a one dimensional actor because of Edward’s demeanor,” Tanamor said. “But what he actually does well in the movie is play to the character’s strengths and weaknesses. When people see him in other films they’ll be surprised of his range of acting.”
